Part of a strong trilogy -- or quartet depending on who you believe -- of hard sci-fi space opera. Really compelling stuff. You know what sucks? This guy has a PhD in astronomy and writes this well. Couldn't he have spread the wealth a bit instead of hogging all the talent?
