Faced with an Imperial Smoothie Cruiser — the stalwart silver ‘98 Dodge Intrepid ES — sporting over 100,000 miles I chose the only rational option. Buy a 2008 Mazdaspeed 3! Ah, the glories of a car payment.
Julia picked out the color, by the way. According to Mazda literature that color is “True Red”. According to the ColdForged household that color is “Eye Searing Red”.
An aside
It’s been so long since I updated the site with any regularity that I just happen to be re-reading The Confusion so I don’t have to update the sidebar. What perfect, wonderful harmony!

Wow. I’m impressed that the cruiser was still around. Since you bought the cruiser, I has my first Saturn for about a year and half, returned it, leased another Saturn, returned that and then bought a Nissan Altima, which I’ve had for almost five years (took delivery 2/14/2003.) That’s a lot of smoothies.
Like the Mazda. Not too crazy about the color, but since Julia picked it out, I’m sure it’s your favorite.
Ah, well… I guess if I had read the post carefully I could have seen that it was probably 97 or so.
Since we’re talking about cars, I have to say that these new tires (Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position) are pretty phenomenal. It’s amazing what a new set can do for a vehicle.
When did you retire the Ford Probe, CF? 95?
You need some big rims and purple neon lights underneath the MazdaSpeed 3 now. Maybe a really loud muffler and a huge spoiler on the back.
You know that J would really think the neon lights are cool. =D
Ahhh, I see you gots yourself a mid-life crisis car.
Good luck avoiding the speeding tickets.
