A wonderful compliment

There’s a relatively new project at my workplace getting ramped up. It seemed like it might be an interesting departure from what I’ve been doing — though scrubbing alpaca anuses would fall under that description too at this point — and a challenging technical problem. I decided I wanted to be on the project so I made my bid and, after management consideration, was subsequently assigned to it. At today’s engineering meeting — bear in mind that we’re still a small company so that would entail about 15 people — the CTO mentioned that I was joining the project.

Later today I was talking with a coworker, one with whom I don’t normally have much cause to converse in my daily activities. We just happened to be in the breakroom at the same time. At one point this person peeked out the door, looked both ways and said “I just wanted you to know that I feel 100% better about the new project now.” I don’t think I’ve heard a nicer thing from a coworker. With everything going on it’s nice to get a bit of warmfuzzies, aside from the nice comments from my readers.
