Last night was the exciting game 7 — a relative rarity in itself — in the Stanley Cup finals. Tampa Bay pulled off a quality win despite a momentum-crushing call against them midway through the third period that gave Calgary a power-play which they capitalized on to make it a 1 goal game. This was hockey finals action at its finest, and I cheer both teams for providing a worthy ending to the season.
Fast forward to this morning. I subscribe to the local station’s news headlines for the hell of it, just to get that little snip so I know a bit what’s going on in the world. Lemme provide the headlines for you:

So, in the grand scheme of things, the Padres draft selection of a shortstop and the overwhelmingly insightful acknowledgment that UNC needs to win more football games is more important than any mention of someone winning the Stanley Cup in a game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals. Incredible. Hey, WRAL, I hear there’s a peewee soccer game or two this weekend that you guys could cover. And I plan on getting some pickup volleyball in some time soon, you should send out one of those high def cameras. As a matter of fact, I feel a piss coming on… you want a full report?
UPDATE: Then again it could be worse. The home team’s newspaper could have reported that Tampa Bay actually lost instead.

Yup, 7 shots in first two for Calgary. Then 10 shots in the 3rd.
Fun game.
That was an incredible game last night. Calgary took it to TB in the final period, but they just didn’t get things going soon enough. What was it, like 7 shots on goal in the first two periods?!
Actually, soccer season ended last month. It’s tee-ball season now.
