Weekend movie roundup

Quick tidbits on the movies Cat and I viewed this weekend while the chalupa slept.

Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines – better than anticipated. I can’t say too much, because Javahead hasn’t seen it yet and I’d hate to spoil his fun. Suffice it to say that the ending is… interesting. Oh, and Kristanna Loken could melt shuttle tiles. Seriously.

The 25th Hour – kind of long-winded and mildly to moderately preachy (a Spike Jones “joint” preachy?! Say it ain’t so!), but decent. Edward Norton is a portable god. I used to say that about Kevin Spacey, but I can’t in good conscience do so after K-Pax. Hey, thanks for the “chalupa” reference, Ed.

Lost In La Mancha – like watching a 20-car pileup in slow motion from a comfortable vantage point. Poor Terry Gilliam. It’s hard to see regular movies now without thinking of all the work needed to bring it to the screen.

Old School – surprisingly similar to a noble gas — say, argon — in that it is odorless, tasteless, and has little to no effect on anything in the world. One of the few movies that I can hardly remember less than 12 hours after finishing it. Though for the genre there were far too few gratuitous breast shots. They tried to make up for it by showing every scrap of available nudity in the DVD menus, but that’s just cheating. We’re not fooled one iota. I’m wondering if it’s possible to file a class action suit for having actually watched the included “Actor’s Studio Spoof”. My 21 minutes would truly have been better spent crafting a dead-ant erotic mosaic on my kitchen table.

You didn’t like Frank the Tank? He was the best part of the movie by far.

Um, I actually consider watching a 20-car pileup in slow-motion a fun thing to do so you might wanna change your descriptions for us rednecks. =P
