Look down there on the right again… between the “referrers” (which I secretly loathe and am seriously considering ditching… I simply can’t get them to be like I’d like them to be. Oh, maybe it’s because I don’t actually get referrals. That would tend to reduce the perceived joy I get from them, wouldn’t it?) and the “Now playing” thingie. That’s my Blogroll. Ain’t it cute? I know, there was something there before that looked a wee bit like it. But actually managing the damned thing was something about as pleasant as glorfing Windex through a Crazy Straw. If there was a blog or site I wanted to add, I had to add it, excruciatingly, to my sidebar template, then rebuild every file in history… blah blah blah. Hence, I haven’t put anything there since, oh, September.
Now look. It’s dynamic, which is Swahili for “I don’t have to go through all that shit every time”. Those of you with blogs without a Blogroll (yes, both of you), go take a “look”:http://blogrolling.com. It’s easy to set up and free for the basics. Stick the code somewhere in your templates (ONCE!) then surf. When you want to add whatever you’re currently goggling at, simply click on a link provided by Blogrolling and it’ll be added to your blogroll. Simple! Easy! Foolproof! And, what’s better, it’s instantly viewable on your blog. I used the PHP version (there’s Javascript one too, but it isn’t crawled by search engines, so all these Google hounds won’t see what you’re linking to) and it’s just… sexay.
UPDATE: Is it humorous that I just had a Google hit from somebody searching for “i work at arby’s”:http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&q=%22i+work+at+arby%27s%22&spell=1? I didn’t think so either.
