“Convenient” my left cheek

Mark calls it right on this one.

“There’s twenty things on that page, CF, to what, pray tell, are you referring?”

This part:

After successfully filing my taxes electronically, the state of North Carolina requires me to print out, sign, and mail them a copy of Form 8453: Affirmation of Electronic Filing.

Asinine. Utterly. And confusing as well. I used the web version of TurboTax this year to do my taxes, and was overall greatly pleased with the experience. Finished up and filed electronically. Yeehaw, all done. TurboTax told me I should “check up” on my taxes in a couple of days to make certain that the feds and local idjits had accepted them. Fine. I came back a few days later, and lo and behold they were accepted. Halelujah. Then it said I wasn’t done yet. 20 pages of printouts later I had this aforementioned form sitting in my hands.

Here’s the cute parts, to my mind.

I’m personally in favor of as little idiocy as possible. As a general rule. This certainly doesn’t match that definition, even remotely.

“And if it’s not too much trouble, go ahead and file those taxes.”
